Safer Open Protocols for biology is a community initiative to improve biology by fostering protocols that incorporate elements of awareness of biosafety and biosecurity risks associated with them. We aim at creating a community focusing on sharing safe biotech practices. SOPbio will support biology protocol creators by providing them a biosafety validation process and a grant (500 euros) to fully and clearly document their protocols in the public domain.
For this first edition, we will be focusing on Open Science workshops that work with low-risk microorganisms (biosafety level 1 (CL, or local equivalent), no multicellular organisms for now). We plan on creating a repository of case studies. By submitting a proposal you agree that your workshop and proposal will be publicly displayed.
Any protocol designers are welcome as long as they are capable of reproducing their protocols in safe environment for the purposes of the documentation process.
Please check the rules tab before applying. You can also check the FAQ section of the SOPbio space. You can ask questions in the Feed section of the SOPbio space as well.
